One of the organisers, Guto Brychan, said:
“It’s great to see such a varied line-up on this year’s shortlist, and the list is very different to last year. It’s been a great year for Welsh language music and the shortlist reflects this. Many of the albums have grasped the imagination of the jury and it’ll be interesting to hear what the judges have to say during their session on the Maes during Eisteddfod week.“
"This is the Award’s second year. It was first created because the Eisteddfod wanted to give due attention to music or created recently in Welsh over the past year. The Eisteddfod presents a number of awards and honours every year, and there are prizes for specific genres of music, but this award has been created to celebrate Welsh language music across the board over the past year.”
The Award will be presented in Caffi Maes B at the National Eisteddfod on Friday, 7 August.
