Consultation on a long-term vision for the Welsh language

Welsh Government proposals for growing the number of Welsh speakers to one million by 2050 were officially launched by the First Minister and Minister for Welsh Language at the 2016 Eisteddfod in Abergavenny.

The consultation asks for views on the proposals for a long term vision for the Welsh language and will run until the end of October. The consultation identifies six key areas for discussion:

  • Planning
  • Make the language a normal part of everyday life
  • Education
  • People
  • Support
  • Rights

Your views will be used to help us develop a new strategy for the Welsh language that will follow on from the current strategy - A living language: a language for living 2012-2017. The new strategy will come into force from April 2017.
