SHWSH! Secret gigs set to take place in intimate venues across Cardiff as Eisteddfod comes to the city - Introducing Welsh language music to new audiences
Can you keep a secret? If the answer is yes, then you could be in the front row for a series of free, exclusive live music events in unexpected and undisclosed locations happening around Cardiff between 2nd-11th August.

A mysterious campaign by the name of SHWSH has taken to the streets and social media over the past week, with posters appearing across Cardiff promising “hot bands, secret locations, free exclusive experiences” and cryptic clues posted online of a series of bands and artists with their mouths covered up.

The gigs take place as the National Eisteddfod comes to Cardiff for the first time in 10 years, with over 150,000 visitors expected at the annual showcase for music, dance, visual arts, literature, original performances and more.

SHWSH is part of Dydd Miwsig Cymru, the annual day that celebrates Welsh language music, and the secret events are organised by Cardiff’s best music promoters. The line-ups and locations of the gigs won’t be revealed until the day of the shows to people in on the secret.

A number of local restaurants, shops and businesses are offering special discounts to people who show SHWSH texts at the check-out.

Team SHWSH has a few rules.  The first rule is to text SHWSH to 60777 and await further instructions.  The second rule is don’t say a word to anyone. That’s how you can be there when the beat drops for an experience you’ll never forget.

If that’s got you intrigued, take SHWSH’s advice and text SHWSH to 60777 and follow @SHWSHSHWSH and #SHWSH on Twitter, the @Cymraeg_ Instagram and Snapchat, Cymraeg2050 for further clues.

Shwsh gigs will be hosted  at secret, never been used before locations. This can restrict the numbers that can attend and accessibility at the locations . We will be hosting a variety of gigs that will hopefully give everyone an opportunity to enjoy SHWSH.

Some gigs will be over 18s and we do recommend that you bring proof of ID to these gigs. Some gigs will be family friendly. There’s something for everyone with SHWSH.

If you do need further assistance with accessibility, please contact us on Cymraeg@gov.wales.
